Must choose big city to follow husband: New York? Houston?

My husband is applying for fellowships in big cities. I want to tell him to focus on the city where I am most likely to be accepted to ENT. New York City has the most ENT spots, but I am also considering Boston, Seattle, Houston, St. Louis, and Stanford (Palo Alto, SF, Oakland, Sacramento). If you had to apply only in one city, which city would you choose?

I've gotten and given a lot of help on these boards.. hope that you can take a couple of seconds to answer a question that I'm studying for research. In as much, how are PTAs managed at your institution? Results of this survey will hopefully change management of PTAs in the future

While I'm still logged in I guess I'll start a new thread to see if anybody can offer some advice. I realize this place is like a ghost town this time of year, so I'll take what I can get.

I'm a long way from the match and am not even sure that I will stick with ENT, but I wanted to go ahead and get an idea about some programs that have caught my eye.

Can anyone share their thoughts on the programs in Philadelphia, specifically UPenn but also the others?

well i am MS3 and i've thought about ENT for quite some time now. i was wondering how difficult would it be to get into ENT for example if you dont match the first year and go into general surgery. is it possible to re-apply the second year, after the 1st year of internship (surgical). any comments? would it be better to apply for a catagorical surgery spot and try and reapply the next year..or take a year off and do some kind of research ? any input would be greatly appreciated.

I want to do an away rotation at university of michigan. Has anyone done a 4th year elective there? How was the experience, id do it more for a letter than actually wanting to match there

International away rotation in October of 4th year?

I am just trying to plan my 4th year scheduling and was thinking about doing an international away rotation in October. For those of you that interviewed this past year, would this be a bad idea? My concern is that interview offers may start to come in around that time. I should have access to email where I am going, I just don't know how often I'll be able to check. Also, not sure how many programs still communicate via snail mail... which I would not have access to.

plastics questions

i've been doing some research on residencies and having a lil trouble fiugring out which ones are strong in facial plastics. does anybody have any input? also is it possible to go from facial plastics to full plastics at some point or would i need to go back and do a few years in general surg?

Interview Season

For all those who recently matched (ie ERAS match), when was your first interview? Also, how many did you have during the month of November? The reason why I ask is because I doing a surgery rotation up until the middle of November and I don't want it to interfere with my interviews.

4th year away

I'm a 3rd year student in a state school in the southeast. I've been in-state for college and medical school and am trying to decide on a good program to rotate with for the experience. I've thought about Vanderbilt and Harvard because they are flexible with their malpractice insurance. Anyone have any input/suggestions?

I was just wondering if anyone on this site has switched to another ENT residency or knows someone who has done this. I would also like to know if anyone has changed to another residency (anesthesia, rads, etc...) and is willing to share their experience.

Hey guys, just wondering if you have started getting post match-day letters/e-mails from programs that you interviewed at but didn't match at, saying that they wished you had matched there, that you were a strong candidate, etc?

Seems weird to me that they didn't send me nice thank you letters after my interviews and BEFORE the match. Seems like a huge waste of money to me.

Let me know if you guys have had similar experiences, and why you think they bother spending postag money...
